This question is often asked by bloggers. Especially when they’re thinking about creating information products. And, it can often be used as an excuse to procrastinate.
Perhaps you have fallen into this trap?
Well, realize that there are many reasons why people will happily pay for information.
The Four Basic Reasons:
- An information product can be saved, stored, and referenced again.
- Many people want to learn from organized information and experts.
- People want reassurance before taking action.
- Some people don’t know how to search for answers on the internet.
All of these reasons are valid. But, there is one reason above all others that compels people to pay for information, even when it can be found elsewhere at no cost.
The Main Reason: We All Want To Solve Problems Quickly
The main reason (and an important sales principle) is this: people will happily pay you to get the answer instantly so they can solve their urgent problem.
They will pay you in order to avoid the effort involved. They will pay you for removing the inconvenience factor (of looking and searching for information), but never forget the most important reason…
We want the solution immediately.
The majority of people can use the internet, library or ask an expert (in a certain field) to find the answers they need. But many people don’t want to put in the time and effort.
Not because they are lazy, but because they are busy.
Besides this, if you can gather and organize the information systematically, you make the choice even more favorable (for them to buy from you). This is a huge key.
How To Use This Knowledge To Create Valuable Products
So, don’t just put general information into an ebook or audio download. Instead, provide a host of integrated ideas that together solve the main problem that your prospect is experiencing (and wants overcome right away).
You don’t need to have the greatest secrets in the world. But as an adviser and coach, you can compile the information in such a way that your reader is able to get a specific solution, in a step-by-step fashion.
You can compile your information to provide a solution to a specific, urgent problem.
If you do this in the right market, with the right customers, you will make plenty of sales and gain a loyal and supportive set of customers and clients.
